Oasis Shower Doors: A Partner with a Commitment to Quality
Tom Daly sold fasteners in 2003 when a colleague bought Mr. Shower Door in Agawam and wooed Tom away to help run the business. Five years later, Tom’s friend passed away, and Tom found himself the president and sole owner of the firm he rebranded as Oasis Shower Doors.
He had just the one shop, and he launched an enterprise with a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and putting customers first. Those same principles now carry the business forward in its four showrooms in Springfield, Weymouth, and Peabody, Massachusetts, and Avon, Connecticut. And Tom says a new building will soon open in Needham, and within a year, in Hyannis as well.
Oasis is now New England’s largest provider of custom frameless shower doors and specialty glass, and it designs, fabricates, and installs premium glass systems that enhance living and work spaces. Finished products range from custom-built showers to glass walls or glass panels that frame a staircase.
Many of our customers in Western Mass and on the Lower Cape have Oasis glasswork in their homes.
We value our decades-long partnership because, like us, Tom runs his business with the customer at the center.
“We exceed customer expectations by focusing on safety, the development of our team, and a continued commitment to pride and craftsmanship,” says Tom. “We pride ourselves on customer service.”
A staff team of 40 serves customers in the field and in the showrooms, a fleet of 24 trucks gets materials where they need to be, when they need to be there.
Tom says the Oasis team is critical to the success of its installations and starts with its two vice presidents, John Nicholas, vice president of sales and marketing; and Barbara Kieszek, vice president of operations.
‘Nothing comes out of a box’
Tom explains the shower door market has evolved exponentially over the years. “It’s intense,” he says. “There are so many different styles, and everything we do is custom. Nothing comes out of a box. Everything is fabricated to fit the horizontal threshold and vertical wall conditions. If the walls aren’t square, no worries. We’ll cut to fit the condition of the wall.”
The basic materials Oasis Shower Doors installers are working with are tempered safety glass and hardware that secures the glass in place, whether that be clips or clamps for a fixed panel, or a hinge for a swinging door. Sometimes, rollers are used for a barn-style rolling shower door.
It can take three to four weeks from start to finish to build the centerpiece of the master bath, Tom says, noting the process is always led with safety, integrity, longevity, and elegance in mind.
Most popular now in the market are steam showers with jets on the walls, and massive showers. “They’re building them like car washes,” Tom says, adding, “I love my steam shower. I use it four to five days a week.”
The expanse of glass makes the bathroom appear larger and shows off the tile, granite, and marble used within.
“Coatings on the glass help with cleaning,” Tom says. “Doors that are 20 years old look brand new.”
Not just for bathrooms
The work of Oasis Shower Doors isn’t only featured in bathrooms, though.
One project Tom is especially proud of is a massive specialty glass design, fabrication, and installation project in partnership with John Moriarty & Associates for Fenway’s newest and tallest luxury condo development, called Pierce Boston.
The approximately 370-foot tower is the tallest building in Fenway and one of the tallest buildings in Massachusetts, west of Back Bay. It houses 240 apartments and 109 condos and features a fitness center, yoga studio, and rooftop pool plus 20,000 square feet of retail space at street level.
Oasis Shower Doors worked with an interior design team to create an ambience that combines urban sophistication, local artistry, and boutique elegance. Installations included Oasis brand frameless shower enclosures and water closets, interior entry systems, fixed partition walls, decorative glass wall cladding, back-painted glass backsplashes, floor-to-ceiling mirrored walls, and unique glass flooring and glass walls.
“The result is a truly inspiring and unique living space combining both style and elegance with safety and integrity,” Tom says.
Connecting with Laplante
Tom says our president, Bill Laplante, was one of his first key connections when he got involved in the shower door business. They met at a meeting of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Western Mass.
Tom invited Bill to visit his showroom in Agawam.
“We hit it off. We both have the same mindset from marketing, customer, and growth perspectives,” Tom says. “We have a lot of the same traits and desires.”
Laplante and Oasis Shower Doors have partnered on hundreds of luxury home projects over the years, oftentimes along with Best Tile, which Tom says is “the great tile center of the Northeast.”
“I’ve always understood the importance of doing a great job for Bill and his customers,” Tom says. “When you walk into a Laplante home, you feel the quality and craftsmanship of that home. I need the quality of my work to match his.”
Tom also values the open and transparent communications with Bill, and he notes their collegial relationship has become a friendship. “He’s a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy,” Tom says.
